Mohammed

Mohammed was a participant in the Understanding Science Project.

He was interviewed on 12 occasions: 7 times in Y10, and 5 times in Y11.

Mohammed's understanding of science

An atom is the smallest amount of matter you can get

If you take all of the electrons off an atom, then you would stop having matter

In ionic bonding, they both want to get full outer shells

In sodium chloride the two atoms are very close, but they do not actually touch

In a molecule the electrons actually slot into spaces

The charge of the water forces the sodium and chlorine ions to slot into certain places within the water molecules
