Sophia

Sophia was a participant in the Understanding Science Project.

She was interviewed on nine occasions: seven times in Y7 and twice in Y8.

Sophia's understanding of science concepts

Fuels get used-up when we burn them

Iron is too heavy to evaporate

Light is actively bounced out of the eye towards objects so we can see

Magnets are not much to do with electricity

Stars look so little because they are a long way away, but some stars are closer than the planets

The north pole and the south poles go together because one of them is coming out and one is going in

Sophia exploring a thought experiment on plant growth and mass

Sophia thought sandstone looked like a load of sand stuck together
