"He announced the discovery of human spermatozoa…Based on his discovery Leeuwenhook rejected the concept of the mammalian egg, believing instead that 'the seed of …animals contain animals which in their seed contain still others in infinitum, and that no new creatures are made in the world but those which are made already merely enlarge and grow, which would be a wonderful thing."
