I undertook this project when teaching in a further education college, and invited participation from students I taught. All participants gave voluntary, informed, consent, and were aware their contributions could be reported in academic and scholarly contexts. Interviews were arranged at times convenient to students.
Students' experiences of participation were monitored, and students could withdraw at any point. Interviews were meant to explore student thinking, rather than teach, and students were not given systematic feedback on the extent to which their comments reflected canonical curriculum models (and were aware that this would not happen). Students were however sometimes given advice to revisit certain areas.
All students were referred to by assumed names in the reports of the project. Among the participants were:
- Annie
- Brian
- Edward
- Jagdish
- Kabul
- Lovesh
- Mike
- Noor
- Paminder
- Quorat
- Rhea
- Tajinder
- Umar
- Vivek
