Athanasius Kircher (1602 – 1680) was a German scholar who was a Jesiut. He was a polymath with a wide range of interests who wrote on a range of topics – including geology, biology and medicine. Whilst many of his ideas have since been found to be incorrect, others proved to be ahead of their time.
