Karl Ludwig von Bertalanffy (1901 – 1972) was an Austrian biologist who helped develop systems theory. He worked at the University of  Vienna, and joined the Nazi (German, so-called, 'National Socialist') party after the Anschluss (the occupation and annexation of Austria that made it legally part of Germany).
