Jakob von Uexküll (1864 – 1944) was a German biologist. He had an interest in how different animals experienced their subjective environments (Unwelten) given how an animal's Unwelt depended upon its scale and sensory modalities. He recognised the importance of feedback in living systems.

Uexküll was an early supporter of Adolf Hitler and the Nazis when Hitler fist came to power in Germany, and it is not entirely clear to what extent he supported, accepted or opposed the Militarist, Fascist, and Racist policies developed as part of the 'Third Reich'.
