Alan Holden (1904-1985) was a research physicist who worked on solid state physics at Bell Laboratories in the United States , exploring the properties and applications of crystals.

He was awarded the American Association of Physics Teachers' Robert A. Millikan Lecture Award (since renamed as the Lillian McDermott Medal) in 1968 for numerous, invaluable, and creative contributions to physics education.
